HPS Foundation Awards $35,000.00 in Scholarships

The Hancock Public Schools (HPS) Foundation awarded $35,000 in scholarships to eleven graduating seniors at the annual Honors Convocation, May 15, in the Sylvia J. Eskola Auditorium. The students’ education and career goals are varied and range from nursing, teaching, construction management, accounting, liberal studies, and more.

Several of the 2026 awards are partially funded by scholarships established in the past few years by individuals. Those include the Michael Monberg Memorial Scholarship, the Kotila & Fredd Family Scholarship, the Dorothy & Philip Dennis Scholarship, the Donn Dennis M.D. Scholarship, and the Amanda Jean Dow Beneteau Scholarship for Nursing.

The scholarship recipients are Alecia Aho, Jill Berg, Louis Carlson, Emery Chynoweth, Jayna Keranen, Adam Mikkola, Lydia Pelli, Garrett Pennala, Drew Sturos, Eli Wanhala, and Mason Wiitanen.
