Barkell Elementary Named Among 2026 Best Elementary Schools by U.S. News & World Report

Hancock, MI — 10/29/2025 — Barkell Elementary School has been recognized as one of the 2026 Best Elementary Schools by U.S. News & World Report, a national publication known for its data-driven rankings of schools and universities across the country.

This distinction highlights Barkell Elementary’s commitment to academic excellence, student growth, and creating a supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.

U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 45,000 public elementary schools nationwide, using measures of state assessment performance and how well schools serve their students in reading and mathematics. Schools that earned a ranking among the Best demonstrated strong academic outcomes that exceeded expectations given their student demographics.
